Ferny Grove State High School held their annual Senior Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 30 October 2019 where they celebrated the achievements of students from Years 10 to 12 in the presence of staff, family, friends and special guests.
The major awards for 2019 were:-
- School Dux,sponsored by Honeywill Consulting: Reina Baulch.
- Caltex Best All Rounder, sponsored by Arana Leagues Club: Mackenzie Stewart.
- Citizenship Award, sponsored by Mitchelton Rotary Club: Oliver Brewer.
- Cultural Award: Lily O’Brien.
- Sportsperson of the Year: Abbie French.
- Inter-House Shield: Kara Kara
The special awards were:-
- Vocational Education Student of the Year: Michael Sakellaris.
- Quiet Achiever, sponsored by Mark Furner State Member for Ferny Grove: Ruby Gow.
- Bursary for Mathematics, sponsored by Moreton Bay Council: Bryce Ballam.
- The Hills & District Chamber of Commerce Prize for Excellence in Business Studies: Oliver Brewer.
- RW Mitchell Shield for Ecoman Program Accounting: Matthew Chui, Sage Zimmer, Jessica Hall, Mya Tadokoro.
- Australian Defence Force Long Tan Leadership & Teamwork: Zanden Jeh (Yr 10), Ha Nguyen (Yr 12).
- Ferny Grove SHS Service Award, Donated by Steven Toomey: Ryan Fitzgibbon.
- University of Queensland Achievement Award: Keteisha O’Halloran.
- Golden Valley Keperra Lions Club Community Award: Amy Swemmer.
- GACQ – German Achievement Award: Ruby Gow.
- Excellence in Physics: Reina Baulch, Keteisha O’Halloran.
- Minister Mark Furner Award for Excellence in Agriculture: Cyndell White.
The 2019 School Captains Mackenzie Stewart and Tony Wang, Vice-Captains Amy Swemmer and Kilian Naidoo together with the SRC President Oliver Brewer, SRC Treasurer Connor Gryphon and SRC Secretary Ha Nguyen were presented with appreciation awards for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. To conclude the ceremony the 2020 School Captains were announced.
