It’s going to be very close shave for Tracey Burrett, sous chef at the Samford Hotel. She will have her head completely shaved on Saturday, March 16th in the public bar of the hotel.
Her new bald look will be done in aid of the Leukemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave fundraiser.
Tracey says she is excited about the prospect of raising money for the charity in Samford.
“Samford has a vibrant and generous community and the support I have received so far has been awesome. I’m really looking forward to seeing people come along and support me in this year’s World’s Greatest Shave fundraiser.”
Like many of us, Tracey’s life has been touched by cancer with family and friends who have died or are suffering from the ravages of this disease. And this is not the first time that Tracey has sacrificed her hair for this fundraiser. 12 years ago, in the mining town of Alyangula on Groote Eylandt, she went the full chop and raised over $6000.
“For me it’s a simple thing to do and gives me chance do something positive. My hair will grow back and if the funds we raise together can help save lives, then it will be so worthwhile.”
The fun starts at 3.00 pm 16TH March at the Samford Hotel, with raffles, a sausage sizzle and a chance to take part in cutting Tracey’s hair. (Brave move that one Tracey!).
Or you might prefer to plant a kiss on Tracey’s shaved head. (For a fee of course!)
There’s plenty of ways to help in the fund raiser and join in the fun, so come along and support Tracey!
In the meantime, you can donate via the link on Tracey’s Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/tracey.burrett.
Let’s show Tracey how generous we are in Samford and surrounds and dig deep. Even a small donation will make a difference.
