An update from Growl Theatre – your local community theatre for Brisbane’s inner northern suburbs. Established in 2011.
2021 is Growl Theatre’s 10th Anniversary and we’ve produced over 30 shows in those years. We remain dedicated to our local community and keep striving to offer accessible, affordable theatre.
Our first show for 2021 was ‘The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde’. The show completely sold out! Here are the upcoming shows we have in store for the remainder of 2021.
13 – 28 August – Boeing Boeing
A farce by Marc Camoletti, translated by Beverley Cross & Francis Evans
In this swingin’ 60’s bedroom farce, an American architect living in Paris juggles relationships with three international air hostesses all on different airline timetables. Turbulence ensues when a bachelor friend arrives unexpectedly, and complications such as weather and a new, speedier Boeing jet disrupt his careful planning. Soon, all three stewardesses are in the city simultaneously, and catastrophe looms.
19 November – 4 December – The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley
By Lauren Gunderson & Margot Melcon
Welcome back to Regency-era romance with The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley, a companion to Growl Theatre’s Pride and Prejudice-inspired production in 2020, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley.
While the Miss Bennet plot unfolds upstairs, Pemberley’s servants navigate their own scandal down below, as a diligent housekeeper, an indomitable maid, and a lovesick groomsman struggle to control the boorish Mr. Wickham.
This love letter to Jane Austen celebrates family and forgiveness at the time of year we need both of them the most.
