A Reminiscent of Banks Street’s Past

Do you know the history of Banks Street, Newmarket, Alderley, Dorrington and Ashgrove?

Professor John Pearn has written a book, ‘A World in a Street’ – chronicling the street since 1864 and the life of the man for whom the street (originally a road) was named.

To celebrate the book launch, a picnic was held on the 20th October at Greenshills Reserve,  Alderley. A great turn out was to be had and locals brought a plates to share, picnic rugs and had their chance to share their stories, memories and historical photos of Banks Street. Author Prof John Pearn was also present and signed numerous books!

Professor Pearn is still interested in finding others who may have moved out of the Bank’s Street area (often to Arana Hills, Ferny Hills, Keperra, etc) and may have photos or memorabilia from these times.

If you do have any information you would like to share, please contact 0412 455 627.
