Now stop dreaming, go pick up your paint brush or pencils and get creative!
Council’s Lifestyle and Amenity Spokesperson Councillor Denise Sims said she expected competition to be red hot, with the calibre of entries improving every year.
“Competitions like this give young people the opportunity to really dig deep and think outside the box when creating their works,” she said.
“Council has supported this annual competition since 1995 to encourage young local artists to pursue their artistic careers and talents.”
There are eight cash prizes of $200 up for grabs for individual artists and along with three $1000 school collaborative scholarship awards going to the winning schools to benefit their art programs.
There are two categories. 2D – Two dimensional works which include Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and digital art and 3D – Three dimensional works which include sculpture, ceramics and installation.
To be eligible to enter you must be aged 18-years or under and either live in the Moreton Bay Region Council area or attend a school in our region. Online entries close 11:59 PM on the 10th September 2019.
This year’s winners will receive their prizes at an awards ceremony on Friday 18th October from 6pm at the Strathpine Community Centre – 199 Gympie Road, Strathpine.
