Ageless fun and adventure at Scouts

The Scouts on a trip to the upper reaches of the Brisbane river near Kholo Bridge. Taken in March 2020 before COVID-19.

For those of you who aren’t aware, Scouts in Queensland involves more than 15,000 participants – but not all the fun is for the young kids.

Scouts also offers a range of options for older children, young adults and even grown-ups! Just have a look below at all the Scout groups on offer. The times and days outlined below are when our  local Scout Group, the Enoggera Scouts meet up.

Scouts (aged 11-14) Tuesday 6.30 – 8.30pm

Scouts focus on allowing young people to develop their confidence and teaches them how to work as part of a team. Scouts learn essential outdoor safety skills as well as participate in a variety of physical and intellectual challenges. Scouts enjoy epic bushwalks, camping expeditions, kayaking, canoeing and sailing.

Venturer Scouts (aged 15-18) Thursday/Friday 7.00 – 9.00pm

Venturer Scouts is a do-it-yourself mix of fun, adventure and personal challenge. Venturers offer young people a break from the tough years in school and making decisions about their future. Venturers can explore the wilderness, camp above the snowline, dive on reefs, climb rock faces, or learn white water kayaking. The choices are endless.

Rover Scouts (aged 18-25) Monday 7.00 – 9.00pm

Rover Scouts brings together adventurous people for adrenaline-packed adventures. Rovers run and plan their own activities, which means they are tailored to the requirements and interests of members. Not all Rovers have had previous Scout experience, but they must have a give-it-a-go attitude and be ready for some serious fun!

Adult Volunteers

You’re never too old to join the adventurous life of Scouting, even if you haven’t been involved before. Adult volunteers are the backbone of Scouting, who care about the guidance and development of the young people through our Child Safe Scouting framework. Training is provided through the Scouts Australia Institute of Training, a registered training organisation, which offers a wide variety of courses in Leadership, Business, Management and Outdoor Recreation.

To find out more information about the older Scout options, or talk about becoming an adult volunteer, get in touch with the Enoggera Scouts by visiting them at their Den at 61 Hurdcotte Street, Enoggera. Alternatively, call the Group leader on 3355 1916 or 3355 2882 or email or
