All set for State at Arana Ascot

Kara, Lara and Georgia sporting their gold medals from last year

There has been much excitement in the air at Arana Ascot Hockey Club with four club members having been selected to play in the Queensland under 15’s squad in 2021.

The four talented girls include; Kara Bradley (13years old), Lara Pyle (13 years old), Georgia Harris (14 years old) and Alexa Nguyen (14 years old) who will all trial in February 2021 in order to make the Queensland under 15’s team.

The accomplished girls, who have all been playing Hockey from a young age, were chosen from numerous other contenders showing that all and all their hard work and training has now paid off!

However, these local girls are no stranger to success on a state level. Last year Kara and Georgia played in the Queensland under 13‘s team that won gold at Nationals. In addition, Kara and Lara played in the Queensland under 12’s school girls team who also won gold at Nationals!

Team sports can bring so many benefits to children in terms of their development and social interactions. Upon asking the girls what they love most about the sport, they all expressed how passionate they were about hockey and how much fun this team sport is.

‘I just love playing Hockey and everything about it. Hockey is loads of fun and such a great way to make new friends,’ explains Lara.
