With fixture rounds finishing at Downey Park on 11th August, (except for 6-team competitions which play one extra week,) finals will then round out the season, with Grand Finals scheduled for 1st September. Most Arana Netball competitive teams are poised to play in the finals, finishing in the upper half of their points ladders. Well done to all teams and coaches, and all the very best for final games.
Non-competitive teams, Arana 9 and Arana 10, do not play finals so their season will end with the last fixture. These teams of young girls, aged 8 to 10 years, have trained and played with great enthusiasm during the season, and have built firm foundations for their positions in future teams.
Following Grand Final day, Arana Netball will hold trophy night on Saturday 15th September, as an early evening event at the Hills District Community Hall. At trophy presentations each player is recognised for her efforts during the season, with special awards within teams and across the club also being announced.
Many players are forming and entering their own teams in summer night competition, most looking to play at Downey Park courts in the QCNA competition. This competition, as with day carnivals in which several Arana teams played during the season, is a great way to further one’s netball experience. For anyone wanting to play summer night games, contact the club now as teams may not yet have full numbers.
For a sporting club to operate effectively, Committee and other volunteers are a vital part, and with the A.G.M. for Arana Netball Club on Monday 20th August, it is hoped that a good number of parents, senior players, and others interested, will attend the meeting and where necessary, be willing to consider taking on a role for the club. If all positions are filled, no job becomes too onerous as the load is shared. As with all Arana Netball Club meetings, the A.G.M. will be in the Arana Sports meeting room at the Hills District Community Hall, Dawson Parade, and will commence at 7.30pm, to be followed by a general monthly meeting.
Sign-on for the 2019 season has been scheduled for Sunday 3rd February from 4pm to 6pm, at the netball training courts in Leslie Patrick Park. Sign-on will be available on-line again (via www.arananetballclub.com.au) so sign-on day will include a sausage sizzle, uniform sales and advice, and details on grading and selection trials, which will be held over the next 2-3 weeks in February, 2019.
