Come and Try Girl Guides

Many of us remember the Brownies of years past and are reminded of this when the familiar Girl Guide biscuits come out every year. However, many of us do not know what the Girl Guides of today really do and the influence they have on our community.

Girl Guides set out to empower girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting and responsible community members. The non-formal program focuses on fun activities including self-development and practical skills. There are opportunities from girls from age 5+ and women off all ages to get involved. So how can you find out more?

On February 25, Brisbane North Girl Guides are running 2 ‘Come and try’ days to allow the public to come along as see what it is like to be a Girl Guide. There will be a selection of fun and free activities, including a rock climbing wall, crafts, face painting and screen printing. You will have plenty of opportunity on the day to find out where you closest unit is and how you can join. You can also visit their public Facebook page (Brisbane North Girl Guides) to see what they’re up to and find out more information.

When: 25 February, 10am-2pm
Where: Wahminda Park, Ferny Hills (Ferny Hills Girl Guides) OR
Murray Duus Park, Edinburgh Castle Rd, Wavell Heights (Nundah-Wavell Girl Guides)
