Construction Commences for Veteran Support Hub

An Artists impression of what the completed building will look like

Rogerscorp along with RSL Queensland and Mates4Mates officially turn the soil on a new veteran support hub.

The developer, Rogerscorp have today officially commenced construction on the new Stafford Services Hub, a purpose built veteran and family support hub at Stafford in Brisbane’s north.

The first sod was turned yesterday morning as part of the official turning of the sod ceremony, with the development now on its way to making a difference throughout Brisbane’s northside, which will play a significant role in providing critical services to this high-density community of veterans. In attendance were representatives of the Federal and State Governments, Brisbane City Council, RSL Queensland and Mates4Mates. The development will cost more than $25 million and is set to be a leading example of veteran healthcare.

Stafford Services Hub will be located within the new Stafford commercial precinct at 274 Stafford Road, with construction due to be complete by the end of the year.

1500m2 of the top floor will be tenanted by the Veteran & Family Wellbeing Centre an initiative of RSL Queensland and Mates4Mates. The remaining ground floor space has preliminary agreements with another veteran organisation, and official tenancy to be confirmed soon.

The first of its kind in South-East Queensland, the centre is designed to bring together a variety of services under one roof, helping make it easier for veterans and their families to find the support they need.

Rogerscorp’s Director, Simon Rogers said “Stafford Services Hub will become a central location for the veteran community, providing critical support, rehabilitation and sociability to current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families.

“Rogerscorp is honoured to be delivering this valuable asset to the Queensland community.”

RSL Queensland CEO, Robert Skoda said “Our new Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre will provide accessible, in-person counselling, physical rehabilitation, employment support and mentorship support to current and former defence personnel and their families.”

“More veterans live in Queensland than any other state and RSL Queensland proudly delivers more veteran wellbeing services in Queensland than any other Australian ex-Services organisation. This model is a perfect example of how we are working to evolve veteran support services to ensure they are meeting the needs of our ever-changing community.”
