Despite the Dampness, Cake Decorators Unite!

An update from the Brisbane North Cake Decorators Association

Maria with her wafer paper Moth Orchid

We held our meeting in May a week earlier due to the Federal Election and we had a great roll-up, even though the rain was still making a nuisance of itself.

Cake Decorating and rain just do not mix but Maria produced a very realistic Moth Orchid out of wafer paper as our demonstration after the business meeting.

Our State organisation, the Qld Cake Decorators Association is planning a Cake Show in September at Upper Coomera so we are busy planning a wedding cake for the display. It will be great to have the show after the last two years of having to cancel.

The upcoming June meeting will be a workshop on bas relief, a technique of building up two-dimensional pictures with different icing. We decided a workshop would be more interactive than just watching a demonstration, so Robyn will be guiding us through the process.

The group meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month at the Arana Hills Community Hall on Dawson Parade commencing at 1pm.

We are a branch of the Queensland Cake Decorators Association and aim to foster and improve the art of cake decorating and sugar craft by providing the opportunity for an exchange of ideas and skills.
