A monthly update from your Federal Member for Dickson Peter Dutton

Let me know your priorities

I want to know what’s important to you.

I’m working hard to make our community even better but I can’t do it on my own. I need your help to make sure we get the priorities right for our community.

With your help, and by working together, I know we can get the upgrades, facilities and opportunities our community needs to be even better.

Please get in touch with me at peter.dutton.mp@aph.gov.auto let me know your priorities.

Income Tax Relief

The Morrison Government is working to see our tax relief plan passed through the Parliament as soon as possible.

Our plan will eliminate bracket creep and give lower and middle income earners tax relief of up to $1080.

We believe you should have more money in your own pocket.

Our income tax relief package was a key election commitment and could be passed within an hour of the Parliament resuming with the support of the Labor Party.

At the time of writing, the new Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese and Labor have not yet committed to voting for these tax cuts which you deserve.

This is incredibly disappointing but hopefully Labor will get on board in the coming days.

In the meantime, we will continue working hard and will leave no stone unturned to deliver these tax cuts which you deserve.

All Abilities Playground Update

My first election commitment has been delivered! – A $200,000 contribution to the new All Abilities Playground at Leslie Patrick Park in Arana Hills from the Australian Government.

This is a joint project with MBRC, and Councillor Matt Constance has been instrumental in getting this project off the ground.

Work has already started on the park and the aim is to have it open for Christmas and the summer school holidays.

Save the Date – Seniors Expo 2019

One of my initiatives after I was first elected in 2001 was to host a Dickson Seniors Expo. There was a lack of information for seniors in our community and I wanted to provide opportunities for seniors in the local community to access information, activities and services available. The Expo was such a success, we decided to continue it and this year will be the 16thAnnual Dickson Seniors Expo.

It is always a fun event and provides seniors an opportunity to meet local organisations and business who work with seniors, there will also be plenty of entertainment, guest speakers and much more.

The Expo will be held at the Strathpine Community Centre off Mecklem Street and entry is free.

Organisations and businesses interested in holding a stall at the Expo can contact my office on 3205 9977 for booking information.

DATE: Monday 2 September and Tuesday 3 September
