The theme for everything we do at Mount Alvernia College is Enabling Excellence in Girls’ Education.
This theme was played out in the results received by the 2017 Senior cohort. The students achieved really well in their OP scores, and all OP-eligible students received offers of university placement. Students who were not university-bound are on track with their career choices. We are proud of our students, and wish them well for the future.
Year 7 students were welcomed formally to life at the College at the start of the academic year. Our process of transition to secondary college, which begins in Year 6, worked so well that students settled in quickly to college life, and are now engaging positively in the totality of the Mount Alvernia experience. Preparation and planning are well underway for the changes to Senior Secondary Schooling. Parent meetings began last year and will continue throughout 2018 in preparation for Year 11 in 2019. It is an exciting time to be an educator.
The college grounds are looking beautiful at the moment, and La Foresta’s gardens are blooming with flowers, fruits, and vegetables, assisted by the hive of native bees. The garden is a sanctuary for the community – a place of peace in a busy world. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to Open Day on 20 May.
All the best for 2018.
