Funds needed to complete Orphanage to complete construction of Sinnamon House Children’s Home

Mitchelton Rotary are proud to be hosting their annual fundraising dinner and silent auction for the Umoja Ophanage in Kenya on the 15th February at the Arana Leagues Club.

Last year this event aimed to boost funds to ‘raise the roof’ on the second children’s home at Umoja called ‘Sinnamon House’, which was named in honour of passed Mitchelton Rotarian, John Sinnamon. The roof is now well and truly up, however another $25,000 is required in order to complete construction so the children can move in to the new  building.

The Mitchelton Rotary are excited to announce that Cathy Booth will be the special guest speaker at February’s event. Cathy, who is the founder of Umoja, will be sharing an insight into this extraordinary project and will update dinner guests on Sinnamon House’s progress along with some of the challenges that still lie ahead. She will also talk about how Umoja is so much more than ‘an orphanage’ and how this project also helps the community.

Cathy would also like to extend thanks to The Rotary.

‘Through the unrivalled support of the Rotary and Rotary volunteers, it has allowed my team at Umoja to truly achieve the extraordinary,’ said Cathy.
