Did you know that 1 in 6 Australian Adults is now food insecure and missing meals?
Worse yet last year 1.2 million Australian Children went hungry.
There is a charity that is working to do something about it. It is called The Mini Farm Project.
Their purpose is to resolve food insecurity in Queensland by creating a network of charity farms to grow food for
those in need.
You may have seen their showcase farm in Samford at Millen Farm. Here they have partnered with Meals on Wheels to provide free fresh and nutritious produce each
week since December 2020.
Nick and the team have plans to develop a site at Loganlea State High School which will be a template for school based charity farms around Queensland. Other sites in planning are in Wamuran and Coolum.
They sell some of their produce to self fund the farm and employ Liam to grow produce. If you are looking for a way to give back and support a charity you can do so simply
by buying some of their produce each week or fortnight without spending any more.
They deliver or you can collect directly from the farm each Thursday or Saturday.
