Ideas welcomed for Council’s new community space

Moreton Bay Regional Council’s strategic purchase of the Club Arana building in Arana Hills has started a conversation about how the future recreation needs of The Hills District can be met. Cr Matt Constance (Div 10) said Council is open to all ideas!

“Opportunities don’t come along like this often, and Council we saw this as a strategic purchase to invest for the future in a new community space near the Hills District PCYC and Leslie Patrick Park,” he said.

“This is in addition to existing facilities in the area like Bunya House, Arana Hills Library, the Hills District Community Centre, Birralee, & the upcoming Bunya Community Hub.

“All of these spaces have their opportunities and limitations, including age and access – so I’d like to know what locals think we could do with these spaces to enhance recreation and social opportunities in our area.

“Early feedback will help us frame the community consultation process we expect to begin in 2020, and will feed in to finalising the Leslie Patrick Park Precinct Masterplan.

“It is exciting times over the next 5 to 10 years in the Hills District with the opportunities at this site along with the recently announced Infill Incentivisation Policy for the Arana Hills CBD.

“The owner of Club Arana had the building on the market for a few years and is ready to retire, but I’m glad that this site will continue to be a community space look forward to engaging with locals about their ideas for the future.”
