Learning made fun at the Samford Show

The internationally famous troupe, Street Science will be providing excellent entertainment

The Samford Show prides itself on the range of attractions that change from year to year while sticking to the basics. One of our key objectives this year is to provide fun learning experiences for kids of all ages. Exhibitions and lessons in science, the environment and nature will be all around the Grounds.

Terry Hogan, Samford Show President, pointed out that the Show falls on the last weekend of the June/July Qld School holidays (10th & 11th July) and what better way to get the kids into the mood for school than learning important things in a fun way.

‘One of the things I have loved about country shows for as long as I can remember is the opportunity to get really curious, get your hands dirty, learn new things and have new experiences.  All this can happen without kids being aware they’re actually being taught something useful!’ said Terry.

The top entertainments and exhibitors at the Show this year include:

Street Science – This internationally famous troupe of professional science teachers bring science to life by making bath bombs, slimy stuff and demonstrating chemical reactions like mini fireworks. Kids (of all ages) absolutely love it. Street Science will hold workshops and displays throughout the two days of the Show stressing fun and safety in an educational format.

Dreamtime Reptiles – Dreamtime reptiles are back at the Show with snakes, crocodiles and goannas and more. Gary Sippel mixes education about wildlife and the environment while providing kids the opportunity to get up close and personal with scaly creatures.

Rural Fire brigade – the Rural Fire Brigade tirelessly educates children and adults about the importance of safety in the home. The Health Department will have the mini-ambulance on site too, for kids to crawl around and learn the basics.

Samford Show Petting Zoo – get up close and personal with little nursery animals such as chooks, goats, ducks and lambs. Ask questions, pat, nurse and feed the animals.

Classic Cars – love old cars? Want to know about different models, machines, engines and history? Come along and chat to the experts at the classic car display.

Reptile Kingdom Australia will be present at the show

Want a bit more excitement? The fun doesn’t stop at learning. The Show has an entertainment line-up that is full of nail-biting excitement: – FMX Aerial Motorbikes; The Globe of Death; Ashton’s Circus; The Great Samford Dog Jump and The Mini Dog Jump – not to mention the beautiful horses doing their thing in the arena all weekend. Over the two days, there’s something for everyone!
