Lights Alive at Bridgeman Downs

One of north Brisbane’s most popular community Christmas events returns next week after a COVID hiatus.

Despite being cancelled in 2020 the Bridgeman Christmas Lights event has been a local fixture in the northern suburbs for the past seven years. In 2020 it went on hiatus due to the pandemic but will return this year on December 14 to 16.

Nathan Harris from Bridgeman Baptist Church said, “We’re so excited to welcome the community back to Bridgeman in 2021. This is always a joyful event and we look forward to being able to sharing our churches talents and time again this year.”

The lights event features three performance stages, a 50,000 bulb ‘Tunnel of Light’ as well as other activities for the whole family.

Keen observers may even find ‘Tony Dee’ the frontman for the “Yes I Can” advert for the Rio Paralympics performing during the night.

The event welcomes over 5000 people over the course of three nights and relies on the support of over 300 volunteers from Bridgeman Baptist Church.

The church which will celebrate 30 years next year has been running community Christmas events since 1992.

As well as community carols, a traditional telling of the Christmas story, the highlight of the Bridgeman Christmas Lights will be a 30-minute stage show featuring modern renditions of Christmas classics as well as a drum wheel.

The show has taken months of planning and will be performed three times on each night.

“Whilst all the shows will be excellent the event will also be a great opportunity to bring the whole family out, enjoy dinner and soak up the spirit of Christmas,” Nathan Harris said.

Christmas lights will also be sprinkled around the Bridgeman Baptist property whilst the Soul Op Shop and Espresso will open with special trading hours to accompany the event.

Bridgeman Christmas Lights will run from 14 to 16 December at 5:30 to 8:30 each night. For more information visit:
