Lions Provide Warming Donation in Support of Veterans

“Where there’s a need there’s a Lion!” exclaimed Kay Liddle, President, Lions Club of Brisbane Bunya, as she made a special delivery of handmade blankets for our Veterans to the Wounded Heroes Op Shop, in Alderley. And, it just so happens that Jocelyn Slater who works at the Op Shop is also a member of the Lions Club of Brisbane Bunya.

The Op Shop is part of the national community organisation Wounded Heroes that states on its website is ‘doing whatever it takes to provide support to Australian servicemen and women and their families, to ease the financial, emotional and personal hardships of contemporary military life.’

Further, Jocelyn thanked the Club and Pam Butler (knitter extraordinaire) who knitted each blanked by hand: “Thank you Brisbane Bunya Lions for your support of our Veterans and thank you for those wonderful blankets Pamela you have generously donated to our Veterans,” Jocelyn said.

This is a wonderful example of members in different community organisations collaborating to increase reach and support for those in need.
