Local Tennis Club Welcomes New Courts

Robert Harvey, President of the Samford Tennis Club, welcomed the completion of two new tennis courts for the club’s 600 members.

The two courts were officially opened on the 23rd September by The Honorable Peter Dutton (Federal Member of Dickson, Minister of Home Affairs), Ms Nikki Boyd (State Member for Pine Rivers) and Councillor Darren Grimwade (Division 11, MBRC).

‘The Club is grateful for the grants, rebates, loan and support provided by Federal, State and Local Government, and Tennis Queensland/Tennis Australia,’ said Mr Harvey.

‘I also pay tribute to current and past committee members who have worked so hard to make this happen.’

The two new courts are a welcome addition to this local Club that has experienced growth in recent years.

There is now a total of six tournament-grade courts at Samford Parklands, and the Club now has the ability to host regional tournaments and attract even more players.

An added bonus is the addition of LED lights that will improve lighting as well as allowing the Club to save on ongoing electricity costs.

The Club’s six hardcourt and two synthetic grass courts are also available for hire by members and the general public.

The Club offers in-house fixtures, social tennis, superleague fixtures and coaching sessions for people of all ages.
