Monster Event in Blackwood Street

Claire and James Fuhrmann are all decked out in their Harry Potter inspired costumes in anticipation for The Blackwood Street Halloween Festival.

Ghosts, ghouls, witches and definitely some Harry Potter inspired dress ups!! These are just some of the sights you will find down at the 2021 Blackwood Street Halloween Festival on Sunday 31 October in Mitchelton.

The community festival is one of the most popular – and definitely the spookiest – events to take place on the northside of Brisbane with over 5000 children and adults expected to participate this year. Unfortunately last years event had to be cancelled due to COVID 19 restrictions, so this year it is something the community is very much looking forward to.

The Rotary Club of Mitchelton will again coordinate the event in conjunction with the Brisbane City Council, who is the major sponsor and the theme is ‘Harry Potter’!

Blackwood Street, between Samford Road and Grovely Terrace, will close to car traffic between 3pm and 6pm on Sunday 31 October and the street will be transformed into a veritable playground of free entertainment.

There will be something for all the family including children’s games, entertainers, live music, market stalls, face painting, jumping castle and a sensational Doughnut Eating Competition, plus so much more!!. It promises to be hugely popular with the kids! There will also be awards for the Scariest and Best Costume so get your thinking cap on to what costume you might adorn.

So venture if you dare, and ‘Trick-or-Treat’ your way through the local businesses and market stalls.
