Mt Maria College was transported back to the 90’s in March as students performed the smash-hit Broadway musical ‘The Wedding Singer’ to the local community over two sold-out performances.

‘The Wedding Singer’ musical is based on the 90s film of the same name and follows Robbie, who sings at weddings, his failed relationship with his former fiancée, and his romance with a new love, Julia.

Rehearsals for ‘The Wedding Singer’ began way back in 2019, with original plans to stage the production in 2020 brought to a halt by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The musical’s Executive Producer and College Cultural Leader, Mrs Yvonne Carr, said that the production’s success is a testament to the amazing students and staff involved.

‘Our cast and crew have worked so hard and long to make this happen, who would have imagined that a Musical chosen and auditioned in Term 3 2019 would be showing in March 2021,’ Mrs Carr said.

A huge congratulations to all involved in ‘The Wedding Singer’, it will certainly go down as a musical to remember in the College history books.
