Hello Hills Echo readers. Well you’ve heard it here first –
Your Local Golden Valley Keperra Lions Club members are MAD – ‘Making A Difference.’
May was one of our biggest months with activities including the Hills Carnivale (Hot Dogs and Chips), Harvey Norman BBQ, Bunnings BBQ and Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Mothers Day BBQ, all to assist our fundraising for a cause.
We even saw Oscar Williams at the Carnivale with a packet of chips, sitting on his new scooter. Hope you are good to eat those chips while driving Oscar!!
I know it may look like we just run non-stop BBQ’s, but it’s also a great way to meet and greet members of the community. Don’t feel backward in coming up to us, asking questions and giving us suggestions on how we can assist the community while serving that mouth watering sausage.
Money raised in the Community during May was directed to the Lions Medical Research Foundation, ‘Todays Research is Tomorrows Cure.’
Our next dinner meeting is at Club Arana on the 17th July (6.30pm for a 7pm start). Our guest speakers will be Peter McMahon and Bob Dale, two local volunteers who have been opening up viable walking tracks from Enoggera Dam to Jolly’s Lookout. They will talk about early Brisbane History, Brisbane Forrest Park and D’Aguilar National Park. Send me an email if you would like to attend – cost $24 includes a meal, tea and coffee (Bar facilities are also available).
CAN YOU HELP?!
We need more volunteers to keep these programs going, people who have some time to give back to their Community. Contact me, Paul Ryan – GVK Lions firstname.lastname@example.org or 0409 688 675.
