Ninety and Still Nurturing Nature

Nita Little with just a few of her beloved plants

Stafford Garden Club’s member Nita Little, celebrated her 90th birthday recently. She joined the club in 2007 and continues to be a very active member.

Nita is a positive example that being surrounded by nature, and certainly delving into it as a gardener, is good for your health and wellbeing.

Nita is the club’s plant stall convenor which is an incredibly busy role! From carrying plants to and from her car, selling plants to members, caring for the ones that don’t sell, and looking after them till the next meeting, her responsibilities are bountiful. In addition, many of these plants come from her own garden.

To the delight of its members, the Stafford Garden Club has been able to hold its meetings again since August 2020. The club meets on the third Thursday of the month at 10am, but attendees are encouraged to arrive early in order to buy plants from Nita and enjoy a special, served morning tea (own cup please). Meetings take place in the OES Hall, Cnr Kitchener Road and Bohland Street at Stafford Heights and observe strict COVID practices which include hand sanitising, signing a COVID register and social distancing. New members are very welcome and each month there is an interesting and informative speaker.
