Trefoil Guild is an adult section of Girl Guides to which the following women can belong:

    • Those who hold or have held warrants or appointments within Girl Guides Australia
    • Those who have not previously been involved in Guiding but who are prepared to make the Guide Promise
    • Former members of member countries of the World Association now residing in Australia
    • Female current or former members of the Scout Association
    • Active or retired female Support Group members who have made or are prepared to make the Guide Promise.

“I have been a member of Girl Guides since I joined as a Brownie at age 9,” says Margaret Reid who belongs to local Mildred Bliss Grovely Trefoil Guild who now meet at the Ferny Hills Guide Hut. “We had a great time helping girls to ice arrowroot biscuits at the recent Come and Try Day held at Samford Community Centre”, Margaret goes on. Several new members were recruited for Guides on that day and we spoke to a few who showed some interest in Trefoil Guild.

Mildred Bliss Grovely Trefoil Guild began in 1953, named after Mildred Bliss, the lady who opened the first Guide unit at Enoggera. “We have retained the name in honour of that lady who made such a great impact on those girls who were her guides. Some of them are still members of our Trefoil Guild,” Margaret explained. “Our Guild is now 75 years old and declining in numbers but we still have lots of fun and fellowship together, whilst doing our bit for various charities, such as Aussie Helpers, who are our Good Turn recipients for this year. Our Guild meets at the Ferny Hills Guide Hut on the second Saturday afternoon of each month.”

Aussie Helpers is a charity who help raise funds for and assist our farmers who are struggling to stay on the land and provide food for all Australians. They are a group who do not receive Government Funding so need all the help we can give them.

If you would like to join Trefoil Guild, perhaps to renew your connection with Girl Guides or to make your Promise for the first time, we would love to hear from you. You can contact Mildred Bliss Grovely Trefoil Guild by phoning the Secretary, Anne Maloney on 3355 7175 or the President, Dale Gurney on 3354 2176.
