Prince of Peace students compete at Yale

Six Prince of Peace Lutheran College students recently travelled to Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut to compete in the Tournament of Champions at the World Scholar’s Cup late last year, bringing home a large number of medals.

2700 scholars from over 50 countries participated, competing in Collaborative Writing, Debating and the Scholars Bowl. They also had the unique opportunity to explore the Yale University Campus.

Ms Michelle Nisbet, Head of Senior Campus, said the competition provided the students with a wonderful opportunity to showcase their academic strengths and communication skills.

‘After participating in the Queensland round of the competition, they were invited to participate in the National Tournament in Melbourne. From there, two teams of three 3 students, qualified for the final tournament – the International Tournament of Champions at Yale University,’ she said.

‘Our students should be so proud of what they have achieved, as they have all excelled.  Every member placed in the tournament, collectively bringing home 20 medallions between them. A special mention goes to Mrs John for facilitating this amazing experience and Mrs Edwards, Mr Brookes and Mr Russell for their support of the students as they prepared to compete.’said Ms Nisbet.
