Progress on our Roads

Road access and safety in our growing catchment remains a priority for residents. This month we provide updates on two road-related matters.

Road bend safety – Upper Kedron Road

We recently made enquiries of Brisbane City Council regarding safety at the bends on Upper Kedron Road at the Baptist Church.

A transport network officer investigated the zone and concluded that the 60km/h speed limit remains appropriate and the line markings provide adequate guidance during the day and night. They did however acknowledge that the road signs could be larger in size and better located.

Upgrades to the signs should occur in June/July. Council will also arrange an assessment of the skid resistance of the road surface.

Rosella Street bridge and Minnie Street

Works on the Rosella Street bridge commenced in May 2022 under Development Application A005564638.  The bridge will connect Hasties Avenue with Rosella Street, crossing a steep section of the creek onto a roundabout where it intersects with Honeyeater Street and Parksedge Road.

This is a major piece of infrastructure being funded by the developers of Ellendale.   The works outlined in the lengthy development application include minor widening of Minnie Street at its bend, improvements to the intersection at McAlroy Road and Upper Kedron Road and completing the resurfacing of Levitt Road through to Canvey Road.

Our Association continues to advocate for a bus route along Minnie Street to expand public transport services to a wider part of the community.   We have also encouraged the State and Local government to discuss options to straighten rather than just widen Minnie Street.
