There is a new Street Library on the block! Kolora Collection is located at 63 Kolora Crescent, Ferny Hills and is the brain child of Tanya Hynes.
After living in Ferny Hills for 14 years, Tanya (and her husband) love their neighbourhood and the community spirit that exudes the Hills District. It’s in this spirit that they decided to join the Street Library movement. After reading an article about a Street Library in Ashgrove, and the joy it was bringing to the community, she was immediately inspired to create something similar for her community. Tanya has always loved reading, and the way you can lose yourself in a good book, something of which she wanted to share with others..
Over the past few months Tanya has been working on this project with her father Rob Hurman whom had the construction skill set to build the street library which is made from almost entirely recycled materials.
So what is a Street Library? Street Libraries are a window into the mind of a community; books come and go; no-one needs to check them in or out. People can simply reach in and take what interests them; when they are done, they can return them to the Street Library network, or pass them on to friends. If anyone has a book or two that they think others would enjoy, they can just pop it into any Street Library they happen to be walking past..
Kolora Collection is now fully up and running so why not drop by and have a browse, create a conversation. Street Libraries are a fantastic way for neighbours to get to know each other, and for adults and children to enjoy a great book..
