Local art is a prominent feature once again in this year’s Samford and Surrounds Arts Trails, to be held in and around Samford during the first four weekends in June.
Thirty five artists are participating in the trail, with their studios open from 10am to 4pm daily over these four weekends. Visitors will be treated to a wide variety of arts and interesting places to visit, in the beautiful Samford District and surrounds. Featured artists and artisans include painters, sculptors, jewellers, felt makers and textile artists, ceramicists, furniture makers and even a body artist. Artists will open their studios, so visitors can learn about their making process, view and purchase the art. This year, studios are open from Highvale, through the Samford Valley, Yugar to Warner, Cedar Creek and Dayboro.
Once again, there are a great range of workshops available as part of the Arts Trail, with artists sharing their knowledge and experience in painting, sculpture, ceramics, encaustic painting and textile art. The workshops are outlined in the booklet which will be available at libraries, information centres and a variety of retail outlets.
For the first time this year, the arts trails will be working with MBRIT and Mountain Wine Tours to offer a ‘wine and art’ bus tour. This will be a great day out experiencing the great things our area has to offer with wine tasting, food experiences along with experiencing a great variety of local art. To book the tour, head to the Creative Samford website at www.creativesamford.com
The Arts Trail is organised by Creative Samford Inc., who are always looking for new creative members.
‘The Arts Trail has been hugely popular in recent years, with many visitors returning to not only enjoy the great art, but also the vistas, parks, cafes and restaurants which the district has to offer,’ said Ann Russell, Arts Trail Co-ordinator.
