You may remember local champion, Rob Hopkinson, from our debut August edition of The Eatons Echo? Rob was making waves within our community and beyond by running Ultra Marathons for Charity.
Well, this Eatons Hill local is at it again! Giving back is what Rob seems to do best as he embarks on a mission to create the largest running group at the Sunshine Coast Marathon next month with his ‘Run with Rob’ (RWR) running group – a community he has created over the past 12 months. The group now comprises of over 250 runners based in Eatons Hill, Redcliffe, Bundaberg and Hervey Bay, all running to raise money for the charity.
Robert started RWR as he wanted to give back whilst doing something he was passionate about.
‘I wanted to inspire and support our RWR community to be the best versions of themselves so that together we can make a difference by supporting our preferred charities. We now have donated over $40,000 to our main charity Small Steps 4 Hannah,’ said Rob.
And Rob’s heroic efforts are being noticed. This superstar has recently been appointed as an Ambassador for the Small Steps 4 Hannah charity organisation. Rob is overjoyed to be able to proudly support Sue and Lloyd Clarke in honouring their beloved Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey to ensure that no family has to endure the heartbreak they experienced and to put a HALT to the incidences and severity of domestic and family violence in Australia.
As mentioned, Run with Rob has set a mammoth goal to be the largest running group at the Sunshine Coast Marathon next month and they would like you to join them!
‘We would love you to join us for either a 5km, 10km, 21km or 42km run. If your not a runner, that’s okay, just register and join our RWR crew as we walk 5kms beside Sue and Lloyd Clarke as we continue to promote and support the Small Steps 4 Hannah foundation,’ said Rob.
