A hand-crocheted colourful blanket that you cuddle up to in front of the TV, a small purse that keeps your precious things safe, or the practical bowl warmer that you use every day.
These simple things have meaning and can bring joy – especially when they are made with love by the many creative women at The Nest Community, Everton Park.
The Nest Community is a haven for women of all ages to connect through craft. With their Haberdashery Thrift Shop and an army of over 60 volunteers – many of them multi-talented and experienced crafters – there is always something being made. Diverting craft materials from landfill and re-purposing it into waste-free products such as produce bags has become their stock-in trade.
‘Many of the women who come here are passionate about the environment and are always coming up with product ideas like beeswax wraps, re-usable baby bibs and wipes, crocheted face washers or upcycling old net curtains into produce bags. There is no end to their creativity,’ says Roz Fenson, CEO.
