Temporary closures of council facilities and services – Brisbane City Council

Following the Premier’s announcement of a three-day lockdown in Greater Brisbane, the following Brisbane City Council facilities, services and events will close to the public by 5pm tonight, Monday 29 March 2021, until 5pm Thursday, 1 April 2021 (please refer to Council website for specific information, as Easter closures may also apply following the lockdown):

• Libraries (closing at 4pm Monday 29 March), including meeting room bookings, Home Library Service deliveries, the Pop-up Library in parks, and online live programs
All items on loan or hold from Council’s libraries will be extended past the lockdown period
The Mobile Library service is suspended from 12.30pm Monday 29 March, and will not attend the afternoon’s scheduled stop at Aspley
• Community Halls
• Pools and aqua parks
• Environment Centres
• Regional Business Centres including Lost Property
• The Museum of Brisbane
• Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha
• Brisbane Powerhouse
• Brisbane City Hall
• Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium
• Animal Rehoming Centres
• Visible Ink Youth Hub
• Active and Healthy classes
• Immunisation clinics
• Kids Collective at South Bank

Please note the following:

• Waste service, including residential bin collections, bin repairs and replacements will continue as normal, with increased coronavirus sanitation and safety measures in place
• Council’s Resource Recovery Centres will remain open as per normal operating hours for essential trips
• Funeral services will continue, however, will be limited to 20 people as per Queensland Government guidelines
• Council Cabs will continue to operate, with existing social distancing measures to support eligible clients to access essential services. Passengers and drivers must wear masks during the lockdown period
• Council car parks are operating as normal. Customers must wear masks during the lockdown period
• Residents are advised not to use dog parks or playgrounds for the duration of the lockdown period
