WOW, what a fantastic day it was for 40 members of the Newmarket Bocce Club, when Red and White coaches took them to Mt Tamborine! Their driver was Matt and the host, the wonderful Margaret.
They left the club at Newmarket at 8.30am and travelled to a beautiful park by the Coomera River at Hope Island. Morning tea, which consisted of delicious Italian biscotti and expresso coffee, was enjoyed by all.
The group then ventured off to Robert Souter Park, Creastmead, where hang gliders often take off. Although there were no hang gliders to be seen on the day, the view was spectacular – just have a look at the group below of the group to the left.
Following the park visit, lunch was at St Bernards Hotel at Mt Tamborine. The view was amazing, food impeccable, and of course, there were real St Bernard dogs – four of them in total

After lunch, the group ventured off to ‘Gallery Walk’ at Mt Tamborine. There was about 800metres of pure shopping pleasure with a variety of boutique shops on offer. Avocados must be in season because there were also market stalls everywhere. A few members even managed to purchase a couple of bottles of liqueurs from Castle Glen wineries!
After the touch of retail therapy, it was homeward bound for the club. Beautiful Italian music in the background was played on the bus ride home and it was agreed that the whole group had a terrific time!
