The Ferny Grove Markets Turns 35!

Did you know the Ferny Grove Markets are turning 35 this year? Established in 1963, these markets are a long standing attraction within our district. Bringing the community and stall holders together, local residents know this is a great place to snag a bargain.

Located at the Ferny Grove train station car park, the markets take place every Sunday from 6am to noon. There is absolutely everything you can imagine on sale here:- heaps of books, children’s toys, plants, fruit and veggies. There are food stalls which are easy to find…….simply follow the delicious smells and make your choice.

The original market convenor Colin Smith is still in charge of setting up the market and enjoys greeting familiar faces each Sunday.

‘The markets are so successful due to the affordable cost of holding a stall here,’said Colin.  ‘There is really something for everyone. The markets are a community event, locals come down not only to browse stalls but also to meet each other and grab a bite to eat.’

As Colin looks towards his next milestone, he is very conscious that the success of the weekly Ferny Grove markets relies on the support of the community.

‘I would like to thank all of our patrons and stall holders who have supported the markets over the past 35 years,’said Colin.

Whether you are looking to stock the fridge and pantry up for the week, need a new bike for the kids or just want to grab a coffee and some breakfast, head down to the markets this Sunday!
