If you weren’t familiar with the Trefoil Guild, the Guild is for girls and ladies who have made a promise at some point in their lives and are often ex-girl guide leaders or cub scout leaders who want to continue with the fun and friendship they have enjoyed as Guides or leaders.
Our local Guild, the Mildred Bliss Grovely Guild, meet once a month at the Ferny Hills Guide Hut on a Saturday afternoon and it usually involves food and chatter! They often raise money to help guides with their projects, or work on projects of their own.
Their latest project in the works is a Doll Display and Competition on Saturday 13th April from 1pm. They are hoping to encourage some of the young Girl Guides, their parents and friends to come along and see their collection of dolls. A few of the ladies will have very old dolls on display (from 50 to 100 years old in some cases) which they have treasured for many years.
The Doll Display and Competition will be a fund raising afternoon and at the same time maybe interest some of those parents and friends in joining us in their Guild.
‘These days, the parents are so busy with their families, work and other commitments, there is not much time to just sit and have a chat, remember those happy childhood days with dolls and tea parties. We are hoping to do both on this afternoon,’ said Mildred Bliss Grovely Guild member Margie Reid.
