Walking Netball is coming to the Northside

Walking Netball has been changing lives on the Southside of Brisbane at Mount Gravatt and now Netball Queensland are bringing this fabulous program to the Northside. Sessions will take place at Brendale, North Lakes and Morayfield.

So what is Walking Netball? Walking Netball is a slower version of the game, it is netball, but at a walking pace. The game has been designed so anyone can play, regardless of age, ability or fitness levels. Walking Netball allows Seniors to come back to the sport they loved as a child.

A couple of the modified rules are:

•No running or jumping.

•You can take one extra step so you don’t have to stop so suddenly.

•You have 4 seconds to throw the ball.

•There is also rolling substitutes so you can come on and off the court as you please which means its suitable for any level fitness. You can play for 4mins or the whole 40mins.

“The hardest part about Walking Netball is being brave enough to walk through the door, but once you do, you will be welcomed by lots of smiles and a bunch of new friends. I encourage people of all ages to come and try Walking Netball,”  said Rhonda Newton, Walking Netball Coordinator of Netball Queensland.
